One of the goals of green chemistry is to use safer materials and produce safer products. A new book, The Body Toxic, describes some of the synthetic chemical ‘contaminants’ that scientists have discovered in our bodies, how they get there, and what is known about their effects on vital physiological systems. Nena Baker, the author of The Body Toxic, will be reading from her book at Powell’s Bookstore (downtown, W. Burnside and 10th) on Monday, Sept. 8, 7:30 PM. For more information, check the Powell’s event calendar. If you are interested in attending this event, send me (Alan) an email. I will connect Reedies together for carpooling (note: I might be driving from Reed myself, but I can’t guarantee a ride back to campus).
