Calling Sophomores and Juniors Who are Passionate about the Environment!
The Udall Foundation seeks future leaders across a wide spectrum of environmental fields, including policy, engineering, science, education, urban planning and renewal, business, health, justice, and economics. It also seeks future Native American and Alaska Native leaders in Native American health care and tribal public policy. For more information go to this site, which is a lively eight-minute video about the benefits of applying.
If you want to follow up on this opportunity by getting more information about Reed’s internal application process, go to this site and talk to Julie Fry, assistant professor of chemistry and Udall liaison on the Fellowships and Awards Committee, and Jo Cannon, fellowships coordinator.

Attend a Conference
There was discussion in the group recently about attending Portland-area conferences relating to environmental issues.
Our group doesn’t have any funding for that and I can’t offer any department funds either. However, the Reed’s Undergraduate Research Committee offer something called an Opportunity Grant.
This grant (up to $750) is expressly intended to pay your way to a conference, but it is not limited to that. What is more, you can submit an application at any time and it will be considered right away (“Proposals will be accepted at all times on a funds-available, rolling basis.”)
Check it out!
