Three New Links on the Blogroll
Three organizations have been added to our blogroll and (obviously) all of them are worth checking out.
- Advancing Green Chemistry – A project of Virginia Organizing, their manifesto reads, “Green Chemistry is the way to design molecules and make products. Period.” They have a free newsletter.
- Berkeley Center for Green Chemistry – A project of the UC Berkeley Institute of the Environment, the BCGC cuts across a wide range of disciplines (all the way from the law school to the chemistry department), sponsors meetings, and publishes a free newsletter.
- WorldWatch Institute – They actually watch the world for you. They publish research, up-to-date news on the environmental trends (see Vital Signs and blogs) and you can follow them via social media. Staying up-to-date with WWI will turn you into a literal “know it all” on the environment.
CAMEL joins our Blogroll
Interested in learning more about climate change? Or finding study guides and teaching materials? Check out the newest member of our blogroll: CAMEL – Climate, Adaptation, Mitigation, E-Learning. This site has received funding from the National Science Foundation, American Indian Higher Education Consortium, National Council for Science and the Environment, and the Council for Environmental Deans and Directors. Visit it and tell us what you think.
New links on the Green Science blogroll
Hey – we’ve got some new friends. Check out the new links that have been added to the blogroll.
- PSU Institute for Sustainable Solutions (ISS). More people commute to PSU than to any other site in downtown Portland. Impact-wise, they are the 800-pound gorilla in the corner of SW Portland. Fortunately for us, they have been developing a very active program in sustainability studies and it’s a great resource. Check out the ISS seminar/film program (there’s also a link to their schedule on the Community Calendars page; follow this link or the one at the top of the blog). Their next event is a screening of “Beyond The (BP Oil) Spill” on April 27. This event is free and open to the public.
- Reed College’s Environmental Studies program. This program is raising its activity level with each passing month. Check it out.
- Reed College’s Sustainability effort. It’s our campus. Visit the home page. Get involved.
Millenium Assessment of Human Behavior
Human behavior is paradoxical. It doesn’t seem to matter whether it is food, fuel, or fancy vacations, “I” want it all. But “I” also recognize that “we” would be a lot better off if “we” didn’t splurge. How to reconcile “my” wants with “our” welfare? Check out the Millenium Assessment of Human Behavior web site for some ideas.
