Want to get away from campus for a few hours? Wondering where to go? Here are some ideas:
- Better Living Show. Sponsored by Energy Trust of Oregon. Starts Friday, March 28, noon. Ends Sunday, March 30, 5 pm. Admission: FREE. You can get there using MAX Yellow line (take Trimet 19 to downtown Portland, then switch to MAX).
- Bike ride: Wild in the City: Springwater Corridor. 21 mile guided tour of an urban wildlife area. Sponsored by Portland Audobon? Saturday, March 29, 9 AM - 12:30 PM. Admission: FREE. You must pre-register, however (details at web page).
- Hike: Hole in the Wall Hike. 2.5 mile hike in the Columbia Gorge. Sponsored by Friends of the Columbia Gorge. Meet Saturday, March 29, 8:45 AM at the Gateway Transit Center (where MAX RED/BLUE lines cross I-205). Bring a lunch. Admission: FREE. The Friends are sponsoring 58 different hikes in the gorge this spring. Read about them here.
- Learn about Trillium. Sponsored by Friends of Tryon Creek? Sunday, March30, 2 PM at Tryon Creek Natural Area. Admission: FREE.
(What does a trillium plant look like? Image) - Rain Garden Workshop. Saturday, April 5, 9 AM - 12 PM at Leach Botanical Garden. You must pre-register (details at web page). By the way, if you’ve never been out to the Leach Garden (about 5 miles due east of campus), it is one of Portland’s hidden treasures and you can visit the garden for free.
